Vittorio Gassman, who died in 2000, had a remarkable acting career that is remembered in this film tribute that looks at the golden years of ‘Italian-style’ comedies. Interviews with colleagues and family are combined with clips of film, stage and TV performances to create this portrait of an exuberant entertainer but also a man who had a hidden, vulnerable side.
