MISS ITALIAN SAINT LOUIS 2018-2019

DIRECTIONS AND THE ROLE OF MISS ITALIAN ST. LOUIS:

Please read each of these points very carefully to understand the required activities and events for Miss Italian St. Louis, Junior Miss Italian St. Louis, Little Miss Italian Saint Louis and their Maids. The winners must attend the following events. Please apply only if you can attend the required events.

  1.  All applicants must attend the Pageant, which will be held on Saturday, September 15th from 12:00 pm. to 3:00 p.m. The applicants will be interviewed individually. Applicants will be notified of the exact location and schedule for the days events. Family members are welcome to attend the event.

2.  All winners must attend the celebratory luncheon. Sunday, September 16th 2 to 3:30 pm at Bartolino’s Osteria.

3.  All winners must attend the Columbus Day Parade and Festa on Sunday, October 7 from 11a.m. to 6p.m. The Parade begins at Shaw School on Botanical and Macklind Avenues. The winners will meet at 11:00 a.m. at Shaw School and ride on the Miss Italian float. The parade begins at noon and ends at Berra Park for the Festa. The Festa ends around 6:00p.m.

4.  All winners must attend the  Recognition Dinner. Saturday, September 29 7PM

5.  There are other dinners and events sponsored by the Italian-American organizations in the Metropolitan St. Louis area that we encourage you to attend. Applicants must complete 1 event every month. Here are a few examples of these events:

a.  Wreath-laying ceremony at the Christopher Columbus statue in Tower Grove Park on October 10 at 10a.m.

b. The Italian Club of St. Louis October dinner

c.  Volunteering at nursing home

d. Volunteering at the humane society.

AWARDS:

One of the applicants in the 18-21 age groups will be named: ͞Miss Italian St. Louis and one will be chosen as her Maid.

Miss Italian St. Louis will be awarded the Rose Anne Saracino scholarship of $500.00.

One of the applicants in the 14-17 age groups will be named:
Junior Miss Italian St. Louis and one will be chosen as her Maid. Junior Miss Italian St. Louis will be awarded the Lena (Deluca) Vitale scholarship of $250.00.

One of the applicants in the 10-13 age groups will be named Little Miss Italian St. Louis and one will be chosen as her Maid.

In addition to the title ofMiss Italian St. Louis 2018-2019 and Junior Miss Italian St. Louis 2018-2019 and Little Miss Italian Saint Louis 2018-2019, the winners will receive official crowns, sashes, and flowers at the Miss Italian St. Louis Pageant on Saturday September 15th. The monetary awards will be presented after the Columbus Day Parade at The Festa in Berra Park.

DEADLINE FOR RECEIPT OF THE APPLICATION:

Saturday, September 1st, 2018

The requirements to enter the Pageant for Miss Italian St. Louis are as follows:

  1. 18 to 21 years of age

2.  Of Italian descent

3.  Submission of the application form, essay and digital photo to the committee by Saturday, September 1st

4.  Must attend the required events The requirements to enter the Pageant for Junior Miss Italian St. Louis are as follows:

  1.  14 to 17 years of age

2.  Of Italian descent

3.  Submission of the application form, essay and digital photo to the committee by Saturday, September 1st

4.  Must attend the required events The requirements to enter the Pageant for Little Miss Italian St. Louis are as follows:

Due by Saturday, September 1st

  1.  10 to 13 years of age

2.  Of Italian descent

3. Must attend the required events

JUDGING:

An independent panel of judges will conduct the judging. You will be judged on the following four areas:

1. General poise and appearance

2. Individual interviews. Each contestant will have a brief interview with each judge.

3. Oral presentation. Each contestant will be asked to respond to one question. You will be advised of these questions prior to the Pageant in order to give you ample time to prepare. Please remember that a key factor is how you celebrate your Italian heritage today and how you plan to celebrate it in the future.

4. Application and Essay.  Your application and essay will be reviewed prior to the day of the Pageant.

Please return the application form, essay, $20.00 application fee for Miss and Junior Miss and a $10.00 application fee for Little Miss, and a digital photograph to:
