Making Easter Bread with Father Dominic by Annette M. Graebe

Fr. Dominic Garramone,
the Bread Monk!

Remember Father Dominic, former PBS cooking show host of “Breaking Bread with Father Dominic?”  “The Bread Monk” (Rev. Dominic Garramone) will be coming to Mater Dei High School in Breese (IL) on Fri., April 7th (7 p.m.), with a special program for all to enjoy!  Always an entertaining speaker, he will demonstrate how to bake special breads for your Easter brunch — including French toast custard cups, chocolate raspberry scones, and Austrian povitica, a traditional Easter bread flavored with bacon and walnuts.  (You’ll be sampling each one.)  He’ll bring antique rolling pins, cookbooks, and other items for prizes.  Attendees will enjoy milk and cookies made from his mother’s favorite recipe.  Of course, there will be cookbook signing, and the first 150 people to arrive will receive a free tote with gifts from Hodgson Mills in Effingham. Sponsored by the Clinton County Home and Community Education.  Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door.  Reserve your seat by mailing your name and $12 check to Diane Sinclair, 1051 Monroe St., Carlyle, IL, 62231.  For more information, call Diane at (618) 594-3669. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Ciao – until next time.  Buona Pasqua
(Happy Easter)!
