“ANISETTE MARINATED STRAWBERRIES”
Remember when Nanna used to marinate the strawberries in anisette and sugar. (Recipe below) I loved it when she made it, because the kids were allowed to drink the juice at the bottom of the bowl — when I first tasted “anisette.” That was the only time they would let us kids have “anisette” — And we LOVED IT!
With Easter and Strawberries in season — this is a great dessert idea.
– 6 cups washed and sliced-thick strawberries
– 1/4 cup sugar (or honey)
– 1/2 lemon, juice
– 1/4 cup anisette
– Place strawberries in a bowl and lightly stir in the sugar. Pour in the remaining ingredients and lightly stir with wooden spoon (careful not to break the berries). Chill for a few hours. Erve over ice cream or as is.
